*The Unconscious, whatever its physical roots or symptoms, exists and is the subject-matter of this consideration** on the level of pure Mind.

This means, first, that Science, which is limited to materialism in its subjects and evidence, can have little conclusive to say about it;

and second, that since God is a Spirit,*** – that is, also pure Mind – and as pure Mind has no externally-imposed barriers or boundaries between one manifestation of pure Mind and another,**** only those barriers or boundaries which one or other erects{:}# so it cannot be assumed that God and the Unconscious are by their natures bound to be separated.
