[(2)](a) The Fishes:** given the use of the sign by early Christians, would almost certainly have been taken by them as the Pisces-sign of Passover/Easter with its bi-directional, outer-&-inner, death-&-rebirth / continuing-or-returning (broad-&-narrow) motif. The fishes symbol can therefore represent also (1^st) Easter to come and (2^nd) Easter past, overcome, fragmented.
