The interpretation of the two fishes (Pisces)* as the Neviim (The Prophets) and the Ketuvim (the Writings – that is, the religious poetry and wisdom literature of the Jewish canon) rests upon the parallel between the Pisces symbol and the relationship between the two types of writing. Simply, the prophets are downbeat, in their attitude to the Outer World, warning generally of the terrible outward consequences for the population at large of neglecting the inner life of God; ** and the Writings are upbeat, in their inner focus on God and the relationship of the individuals with God.** This is exactly the significance of Pisces in C[ircles] A[nalysis &] S[ynthesis] and, I suspect, in the mystic astrology of the time of Jesus and earlier.

**(This is a generalisation, of course, and subject to further reading….)
& stretching it a bit! Why aren’t the 2 fishes simply Christianity, Christ’s teaching, as later (cf [[Redbook6:70-71)][19881225:0115]{Catholic Circles}[25th December 1988]] 70), and the few small fishes = the 2 + later glosses anticipated? <891011>
