The
Government has no soul to be saved: the Church, in the shape of its
Ministers and its Members, should do what it feels it should for the
poor according to the Spirit of Christ's words, and preach to all
of us, including but not
especially members of the Government, what we should do and why we
should do it as Individuals*, then leave us to make our own
decisions. We are not likely to abolish the Welfare State. Does the
Church** care more for the state of Men's bodies than for their
Souls?
