[Redbook5:88-92][19880318:1252]{The
Phenomena and Quality of Christ}[18th
March 1988]
.1252
*It
reminds me of that other great Sixties hymn:
'If
you come** to San Francisco,
Be
sure to wear some flowers in your hair....
Oh,
if you come** to San Francisco,
You're
gonna find** some gentle people there...'
My
White Rhodesian cousins*** – or to be accurate, one of them**** –
loathed that song, and I think I can see why now. These songs
perhaps serve a purpose at a very early stage, but their results are
easily corrupted. The states of mind which result from these sorts
of phenomena, which perhaps correspond to the brain-washing or
cleansing phase, need to be focussed.
One
disconcerting test – I speak from experience – is: can these
phenomena be used by the advertising industry? It is disconcerting
because I have seen, on TV, [O]-type light and sound effects (which
are not, of course, original with the [O]) being used to advertise
(for example) shares in a company, and religious-type music
advertising lavatory cleaner (I think). These phenomena open the
mind: anyone can pop anything in. They are probably subject to the
law of diminishing returns.

of Aquarius – see last previous entry.]
**[sic
– the published lyrics for the first verse show 'you're going' for
'you come' & 'meet' for 'find'. And no 'Oh'.]

Unilateral Declaration of Independence from the United Kingdom by the
Government of Rhodesia in 1965, which lasted until 1979.]
