*In
the normal course of events, the Awareness** moves exactly along the
borderline of Outer and Inner Circle, residing between Self and Soul;
or marginally outside the Inner Circle Border.[#2] This represents
the ordinary person travelling round the Outer Circle, aware of the
Inner, able to return at Crisis, but unlikely {in practice} to do so.
To
the extent that the Soul is pulled outwards by the Self, Brain, Body
etc., the Soul is stained, and thus veiled from the Awareness – as
is the Spirit. This represents the person less able to return at
Crisis, and more unlikely to do so.[#0?(unfinished)/towards1?]
If
the Soul is wholly pulled into the Outer circle the Spirit “comes
up against”*** the Outer Circle: here evil spirits may result, by a
kind of black sympathetic process. This represent the most evil
among Men.[#1]
Where
the Spirit is allowed by the Self to pull the Self into the Inner
Circle, this represents the Man who has returned at Crisis and is
following the Inner Circle.[#3]
Where
Brain and Body have also been pulled across the border, this
represents the physically sanctified Man, or Angel in corporeal
form.[#4]****

**[It
seems that the Soul is generally seen here as something more-or-less
equivalent to qualitative memory content or information (in the
broadest sense including experience and personality); whereas
Awareness is perhaps broadly equivalent to Mind (or perhaps Mind
includes Soul along with Awareness) and may well be what is also
considered as Consciousness. & cf. e.g.
