The Outer Circle tends to impose its own viewpoint, to the extent that one is travelling upon it: this viewpoint excludes knowledge of the Inner Circle. But Faith*, and then Hope,** can carry you through: this is where education can be important. The Inner Circle, on the other hand, I think brings understanding of the Outer Circle, so close to which it passes along its whole length.
