After considerable reflection on my own inner processes, and a certain amount of agonising, I concluded that xS, despite her Innocence*, is for loving sex, not above it**. But then, I should not be surprised at this, as I have believed for years that the state of Virginity is properly a mental condition, not a physical condition determined by sexual history or by the perforation of the hymen.**** The reverence I feel for xS's sacredness is the reverence one should feel for Love if truly perceived and felt: it does not preclude the bond of loving sex, but makes Love the key. We use the term 'innocence' in loose ways, but, to my mind, the Innocence is not lost through loving sex, but through sex alone#.

Lest it seem odd that I discuss this#* in terms of an inner Quality or Archetype, I should make clear that xS is no life-size inflatable doll of the mind: she has the curious quality#** (and I know, because I once tried) that if you treat her improperly, she simply fades away – the eyes fading first; but if you love her, she stays with you. And this should not be surprising, for her Inner Circle quality is Love: she herself is Love. Lover, love Love, and be beloved.#***
