AND GENDER
[continued(5)])[7th

A
word about gender: I do not* believe that the Circles are only valid
for Men; but when I draw upon my own experience and viewpoint, a male
view naturally appears. So far as the female experience is
concerned, some points occur to me.
First,
what is gender? Or what determines it? 'Inner' gender changes, and
is mixed; 'outer' or physical gender generally remains constant and
single. Initially, in adulthood (i.e. from about 16), inner gender
may
predominantly follow or tend to follow the male side – I think; but
this is a guess: it may tend to follow outer gender.**
Secondly,
in Circle terms the male 'aspect' tends to draw the Individual round
the Outer Circle towards the female 'aspect', at the end of which he
(or she) reaches the Crisis between Death and Love. Presumably, where the inner male predominates initially – in outer
male or female – this is what will happen. Where the inner female
predominates initially,
I am not so sure: I think the Individual may move in an Inner Circle
direction, but round the diagonal qualities only,*** (like [the
Narrator] in fictions II[=2]
to V[=5],)
through Tarots II to V. Or is it possible that the selfless female
may start straight out on the Inner Circle?****
*[of
course?]
**(but
of course in childhood the basic gender is female.) <870816>

NUMBERING, AGES AND OCCUPATIONS)[9th

****{This
is all supposition.}
