This*
brings to mind, however, the theory of** one of my uncles that Cities
generally have their prosperous side to the West and their poor side
to the East. I suppose you could argue that if the Earth's rotation
through Night and Day is Inner Circle, those engaged in Outer Circle
activities in the making of money will tend to gravitate in the
opposite direction.*** Traditionally the Huguenots and the Jews,
both victims of religious persecution, arrived at different times in
East London and as they prospered (through the generations) moved
Westwards. But then, why did they come West in the first place?
(Not all necessarily did, I presume.) It would be unwise to argue
that those who move East in London nowadays do so for non-material
reasons.

about prevailing winds in Western Europe blowing city pollution away

***Without
getting too depressed about it, I hope.
