The
two extra cards* would perhaps be the 'Invisible Cards' in every
Pack. It is not unusual for packs to have one or two 'blank' cards
usually with the publisher's details and advertisements printed on
them.** I notice, incidentally, that in my Marseilles pack, TVII
'The Chariot', just approaching one of the Cardinal positions and the
first Circle card within its immediate influence, has 'S.M'
initialled on the front of the chariot. I am tempted to read this as
'Saint Michel' (for example!)***. However, other packs do not seem
to have letters, or have others – e.g. VR**** (18th
century).

two last previous entries.]

Grimaud's 'Ancien Tarot de Marseilles'. <871215-16>

Sanctus Michael(us?), I think was implied here.) <930420>

Regina?}
