I
felt that the last few pages tailed off into something unproductive.*
One can become so addicted to this sort of thing that one tries to
force it.

Note
that although the [early]
Roman year began in March (when Winter ended?), January's name is
entirely consistent with an astronomical or Solar New Year (i.e. when
the days get longer). Only Mars seems to be completely out of time
with my own archetypal derivations: I adopted (not
chose – that was earlier) “+Mk”
at A~
partly because of Mars. However, +G's Outer position is known for
internal war (+M's for external war), so it may be that I am “wrong”
in this. Perhaps the correct way of looking at it is to say that the
Romans could have attributed Mars to either
equinox, or the Summer Solstice?**
The
happiest correlations are:
January
and February – the gateway and the purification sacrifice
May
and June – the two goddesses/queens at Tarot III Empress
July
and August – the two emperors at Tarot IV Emperor, and Leo
*{cf.II.76
(re File Note)} [Unclear
to what this note refers.]
**i.e.
as a motive power of material considerations at both
equinoxes.
[Presumably
the Romans placed Mars around the Spring Equinox because Spring
marked the start of the military campaigning season...? <20160617>]
