[Redbook7:37][19900204:1355]{The Wind}[4th February 1990]
19900204.1355
The wind that destroyed the mobile [home]* – I have just cleared [the debris from] our neighbour’s field, leaving only the side of the track to do – lifted at least one piece too heavy for me to lift and flung it across the track, up the bank (where most of it was left), over two small trees at the top of the bank, and into the field on the other side, the one I have just cleared. Yet this was the only one, or one of the only two, windows of the mobile [home]* whose glass was broken.
In the rest of the farm [building complex], which is upwind of the mobile [home], and sheltered it, we lost one high barn panel, which had already been unsecured and pushed out at the bottom by our predecessors; another was bent; and some garage roof sheets began to flap (beams already broken, now repaired). That was all. †
*[Also sometimes called static caravans]
