{The Dragon Perceval}[7th February 1990]

[Redbook7:41][19900207:1409b]{The Dragon Perceval}[7th February 1990]

.1409

δρακων, “dragon” or “snake”, is derived from the aor. part. of δερκοναι, “look”, and means “the one with the piercing glance”.’*

I have an idea that the surname ‘Percy’** was once thought to derive from ‘Pierce Eye’, although a derivation from ‘Pierce Vallée’ and/or a Norman/French village of a similar name, is now preferred.

*Smith & Melluish, ibid, p139.

**(ie as in [2][...], (II, ex III))

[where it is an adopted first name of xP, whose associated [O] symbol is the dragon or horned beast]
