By being ‘hung up on materialism’,* I mean that state of mind of art-lovers and aesthetes which sees only the superficial attraction (or distraction) of form in beauty, and likes to surround itself with beautiful things while not apparently being able to see or move beyond them. This is more of a consumer than a producer condition, in Art.
