The fact is, that I don’t have the faintest idea whether what the Church would call my Vocation, and the Ancient* Greeks my daimon,** and the Romans my Genius, I suppose – that is, that dynamic inner sense – is best to be served inside the Church, or outside it. Such a crucial decision, a critical decision, at such a crisis, is too great for me: it is best left to that Divine Point** – to God.
