The
Welsh course in Llan[...] is geared towards practical considerations:
How many beers, whiskies do you have? (Sawl un ?gwrw, wisgi ?gawsoch
chi? – or something like that: I’m not sure of the mutations (or
much else) yet). When I remarked that I could do with a whisky, I
was impressed by one of my classmates’* immediate retort that she
could do with a cysgu (sleep – pronounced kissgy). Our first Welsh
wordplay.
So
I’m pleased to see that, despite the contemporary cults of strange
spirits, Welshmen still remain loyal to the old gwrw.
