{The Welsh Guru}[18th October 1989]

[Redbook6:327][19891018:1607b]{The Welsh Guru}[18th October 1989]

.1607

The Welsh course in Llan[...] is geared towards practical considerations: How many beers, whiskies do you have? (Sawl un ?gwrw, wisgi ?gawsoch chi? – or something like that: I’m not sure of the mutations (or much else) yet). When I remarked that I could do with a whisky, I was impressed by one of my classmates’* immediate retort that she could do with a cysgu (sleep – pronounced kissgy). Our first Welsh wordplay.

So I’m pleased to see that, despite the contemporary cults of strange spirits, Welshmen still remain loyal to the old gwrw.
