What is emerging is an answer to the old* question about the Outer Circle: Do you have to go on it? Or is it your will followed by the correction or cancellation of your will?**

Apart from the fact that simply living in the Physical Universe implies some o[uter] c[ircle] rotation: it seems likely that the o[uter] c[ircle] rotation is not so much a descent from goodness through evil and a re-ascent, as a specific process for bringing out and destroying the evil*** that is in the Individual when he sets out: because the act of self-will (ordination) which follows Attraction is precisely a wilful separation from God on his**** part.

(This has a curious connection with the discovery# that the commands of Moses and Samuel which Israel later thought it was being punished for disobeying, were in fact an advanced part of the ‘disobedience’: it is as if the whole journey from at least as early as Abraham onwards was a part of an o[uter] c[ircle] rotation designed to bring out and destroy the evil in a whole nation: to ready it for transformation through Jesus Christ?)

This sounds like a version of Original Sin, but if it is, it is a very strange version. I cannot believe that all babies are born evil. On the other hand, all babies are presumably born with all sorts of potential base instincts, and perhaps these animal drives are what have to be brought out and destroyed.
