{Silver and Gold}[14th October 1989]

[Redbook6:318][19891014:2201]{Silver and Gold}[14th October 1989]

.2201

How can I justify placing gold on the more ‘female’, and silver on the more ‘male’, side, in contra-diction [sic] of the Alchemists?*

Well, I have known of this for some time, and all I can say is that that is how +K first appeared to me: all in gold; but I have to admit that in ‘The Gift’,** back in c1970, the original +M also had golden hair: it only became silver later in opposition to +K. And at one time, more recently, a sort of ‘(S[ain]t) George’ alter-ego of +M, perhaps an outer (or inner?) circle manifestation, used to present itself, with that same short golden curled hair.***

The spectrum of colours is clearly right for the attributes (eg red for revolution). It is**** the ‘male’ and ‘female’ derivation which is at issue; and I have often# remarked that it is not the same as the male and female of Man and Woman respectively: all one can say is that the same dividing principle that separates the left and right of the Circle also separates Woman and Man, but not necessarily in the same ways.

***[As +M in ‘The Gift’, presumably, not as +K at any time]

****{Is it?}
