God, will we never learn? What chance has even an ‘abstract and
unifying’ God against a concrete and separatist politics? – Even
if it is all a part of the Wheel, it is our choice which way it
turns.
Language
exists to serve Individuals,* and not the other way round. There is
no great reason why hatred should not lead to warfare and misery now
as much as it ever did, if political and legal institutions are no
longer respected. I have great suspicion of those who cannot or
will not see that what is racism in Bradford is racism also on Skye.
