Everywhere
in the World where tyranny is resisted – think of Occupied France,*
or South Africa today – those who resist despise those who
collaborate: except for the small and brave number of double agents,
who live and work in even greater fear of discovery, torture and
death than do their partisan colleagues. But not in Ulster: there
the Marxist tactic of subversion from within the system is practised,
not secretly as other Marxists practise it, but in open alliance with
the overt strategy of terror and intimidation in a manner which is
only possible by taking advantage of benefits of the democracy which

frequently becomes the Deceived, or at least careless of whether he
deceives, or is deceived, or not: Truth is subordinate to effect.
