[Redbook6:33-34][19881117:1842]{Circle
Gender}[17th November 1988]
198811117.1842
*The
left semi-circle does not
equal female, and the right [semi-]circle does not
equal male. In all areas of application or symbolism – in
psychology, in astrology, in cartomancy, and of course in politics –
it should be absolutely clear that both genders appear on both sides
of the Circle, and both sides of the Circle appear in both genders.
Nevertheless
there is a connection between female and left, male and right, which
is perhaps best explained by saying that the same operation of the
same principles which gives rise to the division between female and
male in gender, gives rise also to the division between left and
right on the Circle.
However,
it must be remembered that our Circle pattern exists at the lowest
level of predictable order, or identifiable determinism;** at the
next level down, beyond our Point of Accumulation*** (between A~,
n=4, and J~, n=5), Fragmentation renders the pattern unpredictable,
and we may expect to find male and female on both sides.****
–
as in the Sistine Chapel ceiling.# This does not explain the
Stum[p]f-tested#* superiority of males on paper (but not practical)
spatial manipulation tests. Perhaps this can be explained away as an
example of mental analysis? I do not think, in any case, that it is
sufficient to shake the fundamental identification of the same [sic]
operation of the same [sic]
principles behind female and male as behind left and right
semicircles.

has almost certainly been stated before in these Journals, but bears
repeating.

[This
presumably uses the Circle progression to identify levels, not gender
splits, ie it is not saying that male will be found on the left
semi-circle but not female on the right]
