{The Soul [continued (3)]}[26th October 1988]

There is no analogy* for the Spirit, as there is nothing quite like it. We can only talk of it in its own terms, as the Spirit within the Soul within the Body-Brain. Our only knowledge of it can be direct knowledge, although we are allowed to rationalise. In fact we theorise that only the Spirit is ultimately capable of meaningful independent action. The Body-Brain without its Soul (which, when resident, we call Mind) has no meaningful individuality; and the Soul without the Spirit has no vital spark.**

(This is where the computer analogy breaks down, as as the non-resident program has no Spirit to give it life.) The Spirit may be seen as as shedding the Body-Brain, on the First Death; the Self, on the Second Death; and Separation, on the Third Death.***
