If (on the other hand)* Virginity is considered a state of being, rather than a state of being perceived, it is arguable that it is more (but not exclusively) a male state since self-control can effectively abolish male sexuality but not female:** a male's interest in the physical process of reproduction is transient, in the form of sexual intercourse, which may be taken or left; a female's part is normally always with her, between youth and old age, in the form of the monthly cycle. So Virgo can be with M~ (& Astraea, the presumably Virgin lady of Justice); but Mary can be with G~, who, after all, must have been her closest friend among the Angelic Hierarchy.***
