Tarot
VIII, Justice, at M~ (Outer Circle), shows a throned* (and/or
winged?**) female figure holding a sword vertically and a pair of
scales (or a balance). (The back of the throne is a lower arc or
hemisphere.)
She may perhaps be seen in the context both of Reason (and
Analytical thought) at M~, and of the progression on the Outer Circle
through U~ (Complication)[,] A~ (Distraction, Anger), J~
(Fragmentation), Anxiety), and the G~ (Revolution) – R~
(Simplification) – +C†I~
(Crisis) arc of Schizophrenia.***
It
is worth recalling that the link of the Circles with Schizophrenia
arises out of the gradual awakening of a 'second person' – broadly,
a 'feminine principle'**** – as the 'masculine'-dominated
Individual passes round the Outer Circle; and, on the Inner Circle,
the conception and birth of a 'third person' into whom these two are
to be fused.#* This process is not only an inner experience but may
be reflected in the external World as well.
*This
is the only card on Outer and Inner Circles, i.e. of T.VI – XXI,
showing a throne – [and it is] where Thrones belong in the Angelic
hierarchy. (cf. [[Redbook4:144-145][19871020:2058b]{Angelic
