{The Triangle of Death}[6th October 1987]

The Cord or Lifeline* analogy inevitably leads one to think in terms of a straight progression of Deaths. But in Circle terms the symbolism is rather different. **Each Death has its own station on the Circles, and to the extent that an Individual has not passed the appropriate transit of Circles before the practical Death, he must do so afterwards.

Azrael

Angel of Death

The rather sinister inverted isosceles triangle symbolises the relationship of the three Deaths: underpinned by Azrael, the Muslim Angel of Death, who initiates the process of dying with the 1st Death.

To the extent that a Self has not already done so, it rises by Jeremiel from the Underworld – suggesting rather strongly that Hell is our ****World, at the base of the Outer Circle. This rising sensation has been noted near to death.#

By Gabriel the record of all his life is 'run over': this high-speed playback has also been noticed by persons near to death.

(But more mundane explanations are available for both#* these reported phenomena.#*)

It is by Raguel that the process of Turn and Return is initiated in the 2nd Death, of the Self: with the last failure of the supporting Brain, the Soul cuts free and “divides”.

#if it comes to that,
(a) the approach to Death is often described and (I suspect) felt in terms of descent: 'He is sinking fast';
BUT (b) the point of Death seems to be seen as a manifestation from above, not at all a final descent into into an abyss.

#*{The order of these may be reversed.}
