Earlier this afternoon, I – in the course of considering* worship as Love of Christ – had the experience of embracing [+C†I~], the [+C] of my fictions, whom I saw and knew as of my own age (or as I perceive my own age: that is, mentally my age but physically a little younger – it used to be the opposite);** and that experience is with me now. He is the Archetypal Christ, as I perceive him: related intimately to, but not identical with, the Jesus of the Gospels.***

In an earlier session,* I offered to give a lift to a lad without transport, living 8 miles in the opposite direction [to me], to and from every course, if no one nearer would do it. [W] is giving two children a lift to and from a different school on her route to and from [d]’s school every day, because the family have no car. This is not charity in the modern sense, but it is I believe the beginning of the Virtue at g~ which used to be translated as Charity, which I prefer to call by some such term as Loving-kindness, ie Applied Love. I suppose r~ is Pure Love, and at C perhaps Divine Love, which is the Attraction to Unity? There is a kind of Love at j~, too, but I do not yet know its name: I know its nature, though, a type of creative, fiery, political, shaking-and-stirring kind of Love: the fire of Love, perhaps, but not (I imagine) as Rolle** would have meant it. And so on...?

In the inner development of communities,*** g~ corresponds to the cluster or group of neighbours within which one lives (C is the Individual, r~ the Family, j~ the Parish or Ward – the smallest formal political unit, normally).****

So what does my reaction* tell me?

I was angry, but the anger was on the surface: the core of me was undisturbed, but the anger was supported by the core. The core, the centre, was a fulness of the Spirit which followed unchanged from the quality in me when I first arrived [at the class] (‘Lover, love Love, and be beloved’) but expressed itself differently at the surface in relation to what had happened: this continued for some time after I went to bed; the difference when it diminished into ordinary reactions, before I slept, was noticeable (I was also briefly cross about the method of teaching, but came to terms with that fairly quickly).

Now then: later,* it occurred to me that the curious and emphatic way of wriggling hips** was quite likely to have been body-language for an unconscious sexual attraction (as I had briefly noted the attractiveness of this particular girl earlier on that evening, although never before).***

I can personally evidence once again**** that the quality of imagination of a genital encounter based upon such an interpretation or understanding is very poor: highly unsatisfactory, leaving much to be desired, and transient, compared with the Quality of Love in the Spirit, which is a lasting joy. But people respond according to their degree: I do not think it was I initially that was earthy.
