(This [Hu]Man-like mental condition* seems curiously incomplete: the Age of
Enlightenment notwithstanding, I doubt whether it is possible to be,
or at least to remain, neither like animal nor like angel for long;
one must, perhaps, always be moving in one direction or another. But
I do not know this.)
