I was able recently – and this has continued – to consider the contrast between my parents' reliance on me to help them with their marital problems* (the example being when I had to drive from London to [DF] hospital to collect my mother after my father broke her nose with a karate chop – some time in the mid '70s, I think); and their later betrayal of us over the flat:** in a detached manner, without those physical-mental feelings of resentment. This is a blessed relief.
