Ref.
Jung's account** of his dream of the underground palace (and
phallus): the second earliest*** dream I can remember, a vivid one
indeed, which may have been based on a story in the Children's
Encyclopaedia, was about hills which were alive, which I entered:
beings of great power, but not terror.****
Funnily
enough, last night for the first time I was aware of the Welsh hills
among which we live as something protective, rather than alien.

may have something to do with the fact that our fencing has at long
last been completed.#
*[Probably
a reference to Frodo Baggins' travelling pseudonym when leaving the
Shire in JRR Tolkien's 'The Fellowship of the Ring', but also as it
happens later found to be the last name of one or more of the
writer's own ancestors. <20180323>]
**[Presumably

***(The
earliest was a recurring nightmare of [moving] lines.)
