encounter +C†I~
at the point of Crisis. Even if we recognise him, can we be sure of
transforming ourselves?

It must be all too easy (it is
all too easy) to discover Christ at Crisis – whether personal or
political crisis – and, full of the light and strength of one's own
new knowledge, go on to ordination and organisation of outer action –
of the Christian life, Churches, Crusades, Utopia by conquest... or
of one's own family. This is my danger too – although my
motivations are mixed. To an extent, within the World, we cannot
avoid this. But
the Inner Life must be stronger:

The Attraction of Christ must be
to Unity in him; Love can lead one through this turning point, just
as it can be one's driving force on the Inner Circle which follows.
