{The Grail Quest*}[2nd May 1987]

[Redbook3:223][19870502:1855]{The Grail Quest*}[2nd May 1987]

19870502.1855

The alternation of Creatures and Coloured Riders on the Outer Circle** is reminiscent of Mediaeval romances – and particularly of the greatest of all such romances, in which these hazards are passed in order to find the Grail. The Grail usually lies across or after the Water (e.g. in a Castle), and often takes the first form of the Cup. Sometimes it is the seizing and misuse of the Rod (or Spear), for Separating purposes, which spoils the Quest. Sometimes it is the failure to ask questions. [The Narrator***], I am glad to say, is always asking questions.
