It
is worth restating this (in a rather messy diagram) in order to
emphasise that everything
else is a gloss
– to illustrate it in one way or another. This is why a certain
amount of mutual contradiction among symbols is not crucial (as it
were) – they are, after all, only symbols. Only symbols! As if
that resolved anything....
One
of the strengths of this diagram* is that it highlights the ambiguous
nature, and dangers, of Attraction. After all, with the exception of
Anger, all of the seven Vices may be seen as a form of Attraction.***
