Of that ambitious study-chart on p214* – ** and I might point out that ‘Advanced’*** only means somewhere between the old ‘O’ and ‘A’ level standard, ie that of a 17-year-old in one of his three to five major subjects – the only one about which I feel disappointed is Maths.

I felt that I was making good progress until early 1989, when I was unable to continue while looking after [our] two small children.**** Having recently tested my knowledge of what I had done, I think I shall undoubtedly have to start again.

There again, the delay may be no bad thing: I think my hope of finding mathematical formulae to describe C[ircles] A[nalysis &] S[ynthesis] was probably, at least at this stage, misplaced; and my gropings towards it, through the fog of my own ignorance, even though they were only notes in passing (if I recall correctly), may well seem rather infantile.
