I don’t know whether it has anything to do with American troop movements,* but I keep hearing disconcerting and almost sub-audible rumblings which continue for several minutes before dying away – only to be replaced a little while later by another. By some trick of acoustics (or of hearing) I am more aware of this when I am inside the house than when I am outside.
