'There is something about the
psychological framework of women that makes them much more natural
team players than men.'* – [AZ], Development
Director, [...] Museum, commenting on the helpfulness of women and
the unhelpfulness of men when she asked those in similar jobs for
advice about how to do her own – quoted by Andrew Lycett, [The]
Times, today, p.13. (I don't think men were unhelpful because she
was a woman – in my experience of both asking, and being asked for,
advice, men are equally unhelpful to men. But would women have
helped a man? I don't know; but I suspect, in a many cases, yes.)
'There's an acute shortage of
real men these days. I don't mean that in a macho sense, but simply
men who know where they are going and what they are about.' –
Lauren Bacall,** quoted in '& Briefly', [The] Times, today, p.13.
– exactly adjacent to [AZ]'s comment [quoted
above], as it happens.
****These two comments
beautifully contrast the G~ and M~ hemisphere archetypal
relationships, as well as fitting the pattern of multiplicity v.
single-mindedness.# One could expect multiplicity of personality
within the mind to show also in plurality of relations between minds.
Single[-]mindedness has been distinguished (above – I think)#*
from singleness of purpose, but they are often linked. For all the
emphasis on boys' school teamsmanship (in games etc.) and adult male
clubability (extraverts are found at Sagitarius-Scorpio, I think, not
far from Schizophrenia etc. on the other side of Crisis), women – I
believe – are
better at teams(wo)menship, committee work, etc..#** In large
organisations, among the run-of-the-mill cogs, I have noticed that
the women tend to be happiest: men have a tendency to harbour secret
feelings that they should be somewhere else, doing something more
exciting.
There are, however (I think)
contradictions in this pattern – not everything falls neatly into
place, at least at first sight.#***

example, it is often remarked (rightly or wrongly) that men are
typically more adept than women at leaving work or political
arguments behind them, e.g. in the pub after work.]
