So* what is the appropriate scale?*
– The Vikings invade England during the second half of the Saxon 512[-]year cycle, and are absorbed within it: this is perhaps the Vikings’ 256-year cycle. But why not a 128-year cycle?
One possible answer ** runs something along the lines that that the Viking cycle was the largest that could occur without overrunning the Saxon cycle.
