It’s certainly arguable* that urban life of our type started around 2048bce (earlier on the Nile), and that this, rather than 0ce, marks the major transition. There again, the first towns are apparently evidenced around 4000bce,** in Southern Mesopotamia; on the other (back to the first) hand, *** cultivation and animal domestication (preceding village farming) appears to have been under way by c9000bce (ie before the climatic change began, c8000bce)**** (other authorities date the end of the last Ice Age at c9000bce).#
Placing the 8096 year change at 2048bce – instead of 0ce or 2048bce – appeals to me, but only time will tell.#*
