The award* of £30,000 to Colin Wallace by an independent inquiry, in recognition that the private contacting of his Civil Service Appeal Board by ministry of Defence (or MI5) men ‘probably affected the outcome of the appeal’, indicates that corruption, at least of a different (and more sinister) sort, is routine in Central Government as well as Local Government and Business.**
