What all these* forms of corruption have in common is a disregard for truth. And the end result of all of them – and of the fiddling of scientific results,** which also appears to be common, and (dare I say it) of the replacing of literary-artistic priorities by commercial priorities in publishers, both of which also represent a disregard for truth – is the loss of motivation in society through the loss of a clear aim and a moral basis.
The aim and the moral basis are ultimately the same, and without their motivation the society will come to a halt: *** it will die.
It will, however, be able to be reborn, in one form or the other, although not without the likelihood of great pain.
