Satan
(one of the Sons of God, in Job)* is only the central of seven
demons** of the mediaeval hierarchy, {he} representing Anger; but the
early Church fathers called Lucifer (Pride) Satan, after his fall
from Heaven.***
This
line, S~ – A~, is of course one of the two vital lines top or from
A~: the other being R~ – A~:
So
ascribing the names Satan and Lucifer to the Devil is not incorrect,
so far as it goes; and the confusion of the Devil with the Angel of
Death (who is Azrael at A~) and with Death itself (T.XIII at R~, and
the Pale Horse at C) is unsurprising. Separation – whether wilful
(the Devil) or divinely-willed (Azrael) – brings Death in the end,
one way or another; but Death itself (R~) leads you directly back to
God (through C).
