The Soul of Man descends from Heaven through the 7 spheres of the Planets, taking on the vices (e.g. Mars and Venus); Man’s task is to transcend the 7 spheres[,] liberating the Soul from the Body.

Ceremonies etc. took place in underground caverns; only men were admitted. There were 7 grades:

‘The initiates were organised in 7 grades:

corax, Raven;

nymphus, Bridegroom;

miles, Soldier;

leo, Lion;

Perses, Persian;

heliodromus, Courier of (and to) the Sun;

pater, Father.
