– And immediately after writing the last entry,* [W] and I (lying in bed) found that we had been independently wondering whether we might be doing something rather foolish in moving back to England. I doubt whether we can stay here:** it needs too much money spent on it, and it is in other ways (eg transport) too expensive. It is also too anti-social***.... A modern bungalow, clean and well-insulated, in a reasonable-sized Welsh plot (English plots are so small – it looks as though you often can’t drive a caravan into your own back garden) would be ultra-sensible; but The Old Court House,**** Llan[...], is still for sale....
