*64-year cycles: The Shakers apparently started in America in 1774,** two years short of the G~-year of 1776. Immediately following the next G~-year of 1840, they (like many other sects) underwent a strong religious revival, and [the sect] reached its [sic] zenith in numbers. By the time of the C-year, 1920, following the subsequent G~-year (1888), the Shakers [sic] communities were fast closing.

****Ann Lee, their founder in America [(][who] arrived [in] 1774 with 8 disciples[)], was converted in 1758 (A~-year: 1760), but suffered persecution and imprisonment in England. But in 1776 (G~-year) there was a general revival in their district of America, and the Shakers ‘took off’.
