I suppose that it is possible to see the Bible (or Biblical history) [in] Circle terms: starting with Attraction (the Creation Story), through Ordination (the rest of the Pentateuch, broadly), then following the history of Israel through Outer Action, (the Exodus to the Kings), Complication, Distraction, Fragmentation to Revolution and the final Simplification under the Greeks and Romans leading to the time of Crisis – and Christ: and the transformation to Love, and Revelation.

In the [BBC TV] Horizon programme (on Schizophrenia among ethnic Afro-Carribeans in Britain) referred to above,* Dr Ruth Sifert(?) stated that one cannot very easily do [sic] diagnosis on persons from another culture because their experience of life is different. But if this is correct, surely it follows that diagnosis on persons from one’s own culture is likely to be a test of conformity?

In this [TV] programme, it was also stated that in the Northern hemisphere, more schizophrenics are born in the Winter months (then one would expect [from equal distribution], presumably).** Of schizophrenics, 1/3[rd] recover, 1/3[rd] suffer intermittent attacks,*** and 1/3[rd] never recover.

Apparently psychiatrists have been claiming for 40 years to find higher rates of schizophrenia among black people. It seems that this is ideologically acceptable if (as most psychiatrists now believe) schizophrenia is a biologically-determined disease; but if not, not.

If this difference exists and is in fact dependent on climate, then it is only what might be described as a derivative or secondary cycle, not a fundamental or primary cycle.

The usual Circle dynamics implications follow from this,* with the consequence that an Inner Circle architecture (and I suspect that Architecture is nearer to the Transformation Point than most other expressions of our culture and Society)** would look quite different from our present Outer-Circle practice.

Such an architecture would express purpose through the beauty of Revelation in the first instance, leaving the usefulness to follow and the engineering to put it into effect given the immensely expanded range of structural possibilities – although as in all material endeavours, contra-rotation assumes that a knowledge of those structural possibilities play its part in the revelation.

(In an analogous way, the diversity of technological possibilities enables us, in theory, for the first time to consider a Society evolving along Inner Circle lines, through Love and Revelation in the Individual taking precedence over Ordination and Outer Action.)
