Life Cycles}[5th January 1989]

[continued]
There
is a quite different,* much more logical and rigid, but still
perceptible cycle which instead of being hung flexibly and fluidly
from the Life Cycle ‘downwards’, is constructed solidly from the
annual cycle upwards, and is based on the conventional (male) working
life plus as many extra cycles and/or part cycles on the end as
actually occur:

Annual Cycle1 year
Biennial Cycle2 years
Sixteenth Cycle4 years
Eighth Cycle8 years
Quarter Cycle16 years
Half Cycle32 yearsTo so-called ‘mid-life’ crisis.Life Cycle64 years48 years mini-crisisTo retirement(Double/Super Cycle)128 years– Potential life span (rarely exceeded!)
According
to E[ncyclopaedia] B[ritannica], the maximum human life span is
reported to be between 115 and 150 years.** ‘There is no verified
instance of a person having lived 150 years.’*** The oldest age at
death generally accepted as authentic is 113 years.

In
the circumstances, it might be better to describe the cycles by their
numbers of years, eg 16-cycle.
