was also pleased to note* that the attributions in fortune telling of
the four suits are as they should be on the Circles** rather than as
their names suggest, e.g. Clubs or Batons are money, instead of
Diamonds or Denarii, which are messages, and journeys (and business
undertakings – you can't win them all). Heart or Cups are family,
friendship, love; Spades or Swords are bad fortune,
which they would be from the point of view of the Wheel of Fortune
('He's lost his fortune' meant money, normally). The Magician is
also known as the Mountebank.)
