I appreciate (and did then*) that this may be a purely medical or psychiatric warning signal, but I shall carry on.

I was prompted to write this here in the sitting-room by hearing, through the chant of light (which was the chant of darkness), more [of**] harmonious voices of a similar kind. But I think they are the gas lamps! See '[0]': The point, of course, is not how they happen, but why, and what effect they have on me (Cynics might ask: Why that too).
