(While doodling*, half-seriously, for an immense 'N'-gauge** model railway representation of the Circles on our Byre***, I speculated that Number Cards I to X might in fact be stationary locations at or near each Cardinal – Hearts, Clubs, Diamonds and Spades – like a ladder up which one would have to climb inwards according to the rules of cards – e.g. Ace can jump to above King – to reach Knaves, which is the lowest Circle on which one can rotate. Like Sidings****.

There were also problems of commitment to Cross-routes, e.g.:#
