It may well be that emotions* represent in some way the negatives or opposites of Qualities, e.g. hatred for Love. Not all the qualities are easily antithesised in this way, however. The relationship between the Outer Circle and Inner Circle qualities on the same Degree**, bearing in mind that they are not all described in personal terms (as Love is), may be of this kind: Outer being not so much the opposite or negative of Inner Circle qualities, as their Outer Circle complements or correspondences.

Perhaps the Outer Circle point is the Force to the Inner Circle's Quality? It is not clear where the emotions fit here: if Simplification is the Outer Circle Force appropriate to the Inner Circle Quality of Love, how is hatred appropriate to Simplification? Is it the reaction of Self-will? Does it not also arise elsewhere?***
